BC Hydro

2026 Spring Campaign

A studio-driven campaign piece for BC Hydro’s Power Smart program, designed to reintroduce the brand through a series of stylized environments. Part of a broader awareness campaign supporting multiple initiatives across the province.

Context

Georgia Street Media has worked with BC Hydro since 2020, initially as a production partner and, since 2022, as a collaborator on campaign work. Over that time, we’ve built a strong working relationship grounded in trust, consistency, and a shared understanding of how to bring their messaging to life. BC Hydro continues to be recognized as one of BC’s most respected and well-regarded brands, reflecting the strength of that connection with their customers. For this campaign, BC Hydro set out to refresh awareness of its Power Smart program and reconnect customers with its role in supporting a clean energy future. The work needed to function within a broader campaign ecosystem, supporting multiple initiatives while clearly communicating the value of the program to a wide audience.

Approach

Working closely with BC Hydro’s marketing team, we collaborated on a creative direction that could carry a consistent message across multiple pieces while allowing each execution to stand on its own. For this spot, we developed a studio-based counterpart to the primary campaign piece. Rather than repeat the same environment, we built a series of stylized worlds within a controlled space, creating something visually distinct while staying aligned with the overall campaign.

Execution

The production took place over two shoot days, supported by multiple days of set builds at Vancouver Film Studios. We constructed a series of environments, including residential, retail, and outdoor-inspired spaces, all within a single studio. This allowed the team to move efficiently between setups while maintaining a cohesive visual language. The scale of the production involved a full studio takeover, coordinated crew across departments, and close collaboration between direction, cinematography, and production design. The final piece formed part of a broader campaign aimed at increasing awareness and engagement with the Power Smart program.
